We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to own a home in the community they help build.
Yet for too many teachers, nurses, first responders, municipal employees, and other workforce households, homeownership is becoming increasingly out of reach.
At Aspire Housing Collective, we believe housing should do more than provide shelter. It should create opportunity, strengthen communities, and give working families a place to put down roots. By bringing together the right partners, we create attainable homeownership opportunities and thoughtfully designed neighborhoods where people can live, connect, and thrive.
OUR SWEET SPOT

Homeownership is about more than having a place to live. It creates stability, builds generational wealth, strengthens neighborhoods, and gives families the opportunity to invest in their future.
Yet that opportunity is becoming increasingly difficult to reach. By 2025, homeownership affordability had declined dramatically across North Carolina, with 14 of the state's 15 metropolitan areas considered unaffordable for the median-income household.
Charlotte reflects this growing challenge. The median home price has climbed to nearly $444,000, requiring an annual household income of roughly $146,000 to afford a typical home. That is well beyond what many teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, municipal employees, and other workforce households earn.

Strong communities need a wider range of housing choices. For decades, new housing has become increasingly concentrated at two ends of the market: large single-family homes and multifamily apartments. Meanwhile, many of the neighborhood-scale housing types in between have become increasingly rare.
Nationally, the U.S. faces a shortage of more than 4.7 million homes, with one of the greatest gaps occurring in "missing middle" housing. Cottage courts, duplexes, townhomes, courtyard communities, and small-lot single-family homes provide attainable homeownership opportunities while fitting naturally into existing neighborhoods.
We believe expanding these housing choices is essential to creating vibrant, resilient communities where teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, municipal employees, and other workforce households can live near the people and places they serve.

Housing challenges require collective solutions. No single developer, nonprofit, government agency, lender, employer, or philanthropic organization can solve the affordability crisis alone.
Meaningful progress happens when each sector contributes its unique strengths. By aligning public resources, private investment, innovative housing solutions, and community priorities, we can create opportunities that would not otherwise be possible.
